Jimmy was born in Providence on December 8, 1936 and was the son of the late James and Edna (Hadley) Hill. He is survived by many cousins, including Dave Drowne, and many extended family members, particularly The Fogarty Center, Woodlawn Baptist Church, and Pastor Thomas and Susan Mahoney, all of whom supported Jim in any way possible.
Jimmy was a legend! He enjoyed participating in many organizations and programs. Jim especially loved Special Olympics, where he achieved many medals and made it to The Hall of Fame. He was a member of Providence College Adult Literacy Program, Best Buddies, Salvatore Mancini Senior Center and Self- Advocacy Groups. Jim was a faithful man, sharing his love for the Lord with the congregation at Woodlawn Church in Pawtucket, where he was a longtime and loved member.
Jim enjoyed playing pool, bowling, and a variety of sports, such as baseball, basketball, volleyball, and soccer. He loved sailing in Newport each summer, attending Camp Miriam and Word of Life, doing art projects, and traveling near and far (Scotland being a particular favorite). Jimmy would welcome the opportunity to share his life stories and his love of the Lord. He brought love, life, faith and laughter to all!
Jimmy worked at Shaw’s Market and the Dunkin Donuts Center, where he sold popcorn and cotton candy. He loved “Ringing the Bell” at his seasonal job working for The Salvation Army to help those in need.
