William Norton

Norton, William E., 88, died December 10, 2012 at Greenville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was the husband of the late Eileen (Mimande) Norton. Born in North Providence, he was the son of the late George and Margaret (Meehan) Norton.

William was a purchasing agent for the former Mine Safety Appliances for many years before retiring. He had also worked for Worcester Textile. William was a life member of the Greystone Social Club.

He leaves four children, William Norton of McLean, VA, John Norton of AZ, Joanne Birch of North Providence, and Patricia Hamilton of Titusville, FL, six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Barbara E. Jackson of Florida. He was the brother of the late Margaret Balfour and Helen Uttley.

His memorial service with military honors will be held Saturday, January 5, 2013 at 11 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.
