Millard, William (Bill), 84, who passed away Wednesday, February 6th, was a handy man, a prankster, and a loving family man. He is survived by the love of his life, Mildred Faith (Irons), his children Joy Kaplan, Jill Young, William Millard, Jr., and Christopher Millard, as well as 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Born in Providence, RI to Alfred and Fanny Millard, he served as a supply sergeant in the Army Reserves and his unit, the 43rd Division, was activated in 1950 during the Korean Conflict. Bill and Millie were married the following year and, after returning to the states, and finishing his internship at Brown & Sharp, he began a job at Industrial Machine where he remained for over 30 years. When that shop closed, he worked for a short time at Texas Instruments before fully retiring in 1995.
Family and friends will miss the humor that Bill kept until the very end, always answering the question, "How are you feeling?" with "My hands, what else!" We will remember him for his practical jokes, as he remembers the laughter of his victims. The family would like to thank the staff at Greenwich Farms and the Hulitar Center for their care and consideration.
A visitation will be held in the Robbins funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence on Friday 6-8pm and on Saturday from 9-10am with a service at 10am. Burial, with military honors, will be in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
