William Maher, Jr.

Maher, William I. Jr., 60, of Angell Ave., died August 10, 2009 at home. He was the husband of Rosemary A. (Nichols) Maher. Born in Providence, he was a son of Mary J. (Perry) Maher of North Providence and the late William I. Maher.

William was a welder for Providence Gas Company, now National Grid, for the past 32 years. He had served with the RI Army National Guard.

Besides his wife and mother, he leaves four children, Jennifer Clark and her husband Daniel of Malden, MA, Katherine Carbone and her husband Erik of Warwick, William R. Maher of North Providence, and Alison Plante and her husband David of Ft. Stewart, GA, two grandchildren, Emily Plante and Joseph Carbone, and three sisters, Barbara Maher of Cathedral City, CA, Margaret Romanovich and her husband Peter of Smithfield, and Mary Marsh and her husband Eric of North Providence.

His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Lawrence Church. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 pm.
