William Digiulio

William A. “Cat” DiGiulio, 82, of Johnston, died Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the Roger Williams Medical Center.  He was the husband of Elaine A. (Healy) DiGiulio.  Born in North Providence, he was a son of the late Henry G. and Caroline (Pattison) DiGiulio.

“Billy” as he was called by family and friends, was a Federal Food Coordinator for the State of Rhode Island for 23 years until his retirement in 2003. Prior to working for the State of Rhode Island, Billy mastered the art of Plastering and continued to plaster on a part time basis for 30 plus years. Billy also served as a volunteer Firefighter for the Centredale Volunteer Fire Company and remained a life member. He served his country as an Artilleryman in the United States Marine Corp. Billy was an avid softball player earning the nickname “Cat” due to his cat like reflexes. He continued to play softball for the R.I Colts until his late 60’s. His passion for the game expanded to coaching local youth programs. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, children and his extended family. Billy could never sit still. He always had a home improvement project he was working on, whether at home or in his children’s homes. Billy was a selfless person who helped anyone and everyone, especially those in need. He was well respected by everyone he knew.

Besides his wife Elaine, he was a devoted father to three children, Karen A. Tedeschi and her husband Robert, William E. DiGiulio and his wife Amy, and Stacey A. DiGiulio-Storm and her husband Al. He also leaves his four cherished grandchildren, Ryan and Hannah DiGiulio and Stella and Declan Storm.  He is survived by his sister Eileen DiGiulio, and was the brother of the late Henry DiGiulio, Andrew DiGiulio, and Norma Lowe.

Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 3, 2019 from 4-7 PM at the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence. The funeral will be held Monday, November 4, 2019 at 9:30 am from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Chapel.  Burial will be private.
