Iafrate, Violet A. (Venava), 94, formerly of North Providence, died December 28, 2015 at Village at Waterman Lake. She was the wife of the late Alfred A. Iafrate and daughter of the late Sullivan and Orsola (DeCesare) Venava.
Violet was very committed to the Town of North Providence. She was extremely proud of her work as a switchboard telephone operator "before Centredale went dial". She later worked for the Town's Board of Canvassers and School Department, both before and after raising her children.
She is survived by two children, Peter A. Iafrate of Woonsocket and Lisa Iafrate Ruscito and her husband Steven Ruscito of Jamestown, two grandchildren, Rebecca Ruscito, Esq. of Albany, NY and Alicia Andrus of Gallatin, MO, and a great-granddaughter, Emma Andrus. She was the sister of the late Linda Ricci and Herbert Venava.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101, Paralyzed Veterans of America, New England Chapter, 1600 Providence Hwy., Suite 143, Walpole, MA 02081 or Society for the Propagation of the Faith, Attn: Fr.
