Wagner, Vincent R. “Rudy”, died peacefully on December 9, 2016. He was 95 years old. He was the loving father of Karen Kidd of South Kingstown, Donna Haynes of CT and Wanda Wagner of Florida. He was step-father to the late Bill Mc Kenna and Janice Morrissette. He leaves six grandsons, Steven and David Kidd, Michael and Christopher Haynes, Bill and Scott Morrissette and 11 great-grandchildren. He was the husband of the late Arlene Quigley McKenna.
He was the son of Polish immigrants, Vincent and Bertha (Damaraska) Wagner, and grew up on a farm in Johnston that they owned and operated. He was one of eight children and was predeceased by all his siblings: sisters Alice Pezza, Julia Wagner, Wanda Majhrovicz and Jennie Smith, and brothers Frank, Walter and Albert.
Rudy was stationed in England during WWII where he proudly served his country. Back in the day, he worked at the old Greenville Finishing Co., played baseball for the Greenville Athletic Club and occasionally tended bar at Gabriel's in Esmond. He was a diehard RedSox fan, lived and breathed for the New England Patriots and was an avid bowler. He retired from the U.S. Postal service in 1986.
A funeral home service will be held Thursday at 11AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave. North Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours Wednesday 6-8PM.
