Sharkey, Vincent T., 90, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at home on September 12, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Barbara E. (Feeley) Sharkey. Born and raised in Providence, he was the son of the late Robert and Mabel (Munson) Sharkey.
Vincent worked for HP Hood for over 30 years before retiring. He was the past coach, President, Treasurer, and charter member of the Johnston Little League, where he umpired into his 80's. He also was active in the Elmwood Little League and was a Babe Ruth Little League umpire.
Vincent served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a 50-year member of the American Legion Balfour-Cole Post 64.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, John T. Sharkey of Lincoln, Stephen J. Sharkey of Johnston, and Kim P. Pincins and her husband Donald of Glocester, daughter-in-law, Robin Sharkey, seven grandchildren, John Sharkey, Tara Siravo, Robert and Lauren Sharkey, Daniel, Kaylen, and Meghan Pincins, and two great-granddaughters, Lilia Anne Siravo and Madelynn Dale Sharkey, and many nieces and nephews. A devoted and loving pet owner, he also leaves his adored Pug, Annabelle. He was the brother of the late Anna Champlin, Lillian Masi, and Hope Evans.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Georgiaville. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston. Calling hours Tuesday 5-8 pm.
