Valerie Tongue

Tongue, Valerie A. (Desjarlais) 82, died Sunday May 24, 2015 at the Chestnut Terrace Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Brian Tongue, Sr. Born in Burrillville, she was a daughter of the late Leon and Evelyn (Herard) Desjarlais.

Valerie had a profound love of cribbage, and she loved to quilt. She was very active in her retirement community.

She is survived by her children, Clarissa Fox, Greg Tongue, Kenneth Tongue, Cynthia Martin and Pamela Folco, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren, and two siblings, Dennis Desjarlais and Louise Clement. She was the sister of the late William, Gilbert and Robert Desjarlais and Yvonne Giacobbi.

Her visitation will be held Thursday from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave. North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, North Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
