Thomas F. O'Donnell, 90, of North Providence passed away on April 11, 2013. He was born in Providence, son of the late Thomas and Mildred (Hoye) O'Donnell. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Jane (Rankin) O'Donnell, his sons, Thomas F. and John K. of Providence, his daughters, Cathleen Brock of No. Kingstown, Christine McElroy of Providence, and Jane Ceccofiglio of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. He also leaves 12 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Mildred O'Connor, Ann Horne and Robert O'Donnell.
He was a 1940 graduate of LaSalle Academy. He attended Providence College before entering World War II and served with the 610th Tank Destroyer Battalion under General Patton. He was also the recipient of the Purple Heart. He retired from H.P. Hood and Sons in 1978.
Tom was an avid golfer, loved the game of football, and because of his quick wit and charm he was loved by all.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 11am at Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth Street, North Providence, RI. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude‘s Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
