Shell Michael Ferris, 65, of North Providence, RI tragically passed away after a motorcycle accident on March 14, 2024. He was doing what he loved most: enjoying a leisurely ride on his bike on a beautiful spring day.
Shell was born on January 19, 1959 to the late Robert A. Ferris and Margaret Frances Bobo in Duval County, FL. He grew up in Clewiston, FL, working on his dad’s ranch. Most of his twenties and early 30’s was spent living and enjoying the beach and beauty of Fort Lauderdale FL. He owned a successful car detailing and limousine rental business for many years.
His true passion was being an inventor. He loved the challenge of creating products to solve every-day issues and had patents on several items. Shell’s later career was graphic and web design of which he was self-taught, and he worked in that field until retiring recently. In 2009 he won one of the Providence Business News “Innovator of the Year” awards for his Law Video Forum website.
He was a nature lover and literally had birds, squirrels and chipmunks eating out of his hands as he enjoyed sitting out on his back deck. In his spare time, he enjoyed horticulture, listening to music, and cooking.
Shell is survived by his companion of 22 years, Maureen Murphy, and many biker friends who he rode with. There will be a memorial mass held at St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence, Sunday, May 26 at 10:30 am. Burial will be private.
