Sheila Battey

Battey-Ribeiro, Sheila (D'Attorro), 61, of Miantonomo Dr, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, after a courageous six year battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Gregory C. Battey. Born in Providence she was a daughter of Yvonne (Theberge) D'Attorro and the late John R. D'Attorro.

Sheila was a teacher in the North Providence School System for 31 years, retiring in 2003. She loved her job, her students and colleagues. She was a member of the RI College Dance Company for 7 years, and also spent many years participating in local community theaters. She loved playing Texas hold-em poker, winning tournaments in Connecticut and Nevada.

Besides her husband and mother she leaves her husband's three children, James Walker, Krista Battey, and Gregory Battey and the precious gifts of grandchildren, Rachel, Aiden, Colin, Nathan, Amie and Jared. She also leaves her own beloved family, sisters Christine Taraborelli and Donna Morris-Baldinelli, their children, and many cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 4-7 PM in the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence. The funeral will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 169 George St, Pawtucket, RI 02860
