Brooks, Ruth L., AKA "My Honey", "Mumzie", "Nana", let go on September 13, 2009 after fighting serious illness over the past year. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 63 years, Gerald H. Brooks, her loving daughters and their husbands, Sharon and John Silcox and Robin and John Smaldone, Jr., and her cherished grandchildren, Brooke Whittaker and husband Jim and Christopher Smaldone and wife Melissa.
Ruth was a WAVE during World War II, where she met and then married her lifetime soulmate, Jerry, who was in the Army. She was an excellent seamstress, designing custom outfits and, of course, all of her daughters' prom and wedding gowns. She lived in RI for over 30 years, Florida for 25 years, and then recently returned to RI. She will be remembered most for her tremendous selfless devotion and love for her family. She will be missed terribly, her memory forever cherished, until we all meet again.
Ruth's memorial and celebration of her life will begin Wednesday at 9 am with a service at 10 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
