Russell Hill, Sr.

Hill, Russell L., Sr., 90, died peacefully on December 8, 2021 with his son by his side.  He was the husband of Mary L. (Fleming) Hill for 50 years until her passing.  He was the son of the late William and Leona (Blais) Hill.

Russell was a self-employed cabinetmaker and secretary/treasurer of Russell Hill Enterprises for 20 years before retiring in 1998.  He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.  Russell was a founding and life member of the Smithfield BPOE #2359 and had previously served as a district deputy and exalted ruler.  He also was a life member of the Smithfield VFW #2929.

Russell is survived by his children, Russell L. Hill, Jr. of North Providence and Denise E. Marcum and her husband Charles of Cumberland, his grandson, Patrick T. Marcum of Cumberland, and two sisters, Dorothy Matteson of Foster and Leona Stanford of Cranston.  He was stepbrother of the late William Hill.

His funeral will be held on Saturday at 10 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.  Burial with military honors in Highland Memorial Park.  Calling hours Friday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assn.
