Rose Rathier

Rathier, Rose M. (Shea), 93, died January 13, 2012 at home. She was the wife of the late Ralph L. Rathier. Born in Georgiaville, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rose (Beauchemin) Shea.

Rose was a past President of the Georgiaville Volunteer Fireman's Auxiliary, and past advisor of the CYO of St. Michael's Church, a past member of the Balfour Cole Post American Legion Auxiliary, the Chepachet Grange 38, the North Providence, Woonsocket, and Smithfield Senior Centers. She was a past active member of the 4-H Volunteer Association, where she was a leader and a charter member of the Northern RI All-Stars. She was on the board of directors for the Northern RI Extension Cooperative Service and was on the Council Providence RSVP. Rose was a Senior Olympian, receiving numerous gold medals.

Rose leaves three daughters, Rose Marie Cipriano and her husband Henry M. Jr. of Smithfield, Paulette A. Montgomery and her husband Mark J. of Plymouth, MA, and Janet M. Ressler and her husband Robert G. of Smithfield, eight grandchildren; Henry M. Cipriano III, Jessica R. Cipriano-Reynolds, Tiffany A. Ricci-Gidney, James P. Ricci, Jill A. Montgomery-Sousa, Kate A. Scammell, Laura A. Montgomery, and Molly Antosz; and six great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, January 23, 2012 at 10 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Hospice, 2374 Post Rd., Suite 206, Warwick, RI 02886. robbinsfuneralhome.com
