Rosa Casasola de Alvarez, 83, a resident of Providence, RI, passed away on April 5, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Originally from Zacapa, Guatemala, Rosa showed incredible strength and love in everything she did throughout her life. She leaves a lasting legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.
Rosa was the loving wife to her husband, Paulino Alvarez, and her children: Oscar Calderon, Mynor Calderon, Cliver "Geo" "Jesse" Calderon, Marvin Alvarez, and Alma Alvarez. Her nurturing spirit extended to her 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, whom she cherished dearly. She was predeceased by her first husband, Oscar Calderon, and her beloved son, Carlos Calderon.
Rosa was known for her commitment as a women's prison director and for always being there for her family and friends. She showed strength, kindness, and loyalty. Even when things were tough, she never hesitated to help others or give them comfort. Her honest and caring ways, excellent cooking skills, and constant love for her family and friends made everyone who knew her love her even more.
We will gather to celebrate Rosa's life during visitation on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 5-7 pm at the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence. A service honoring her legacy will follow on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 9:00 am at the Robbins Funeral Home, culminating in a graveside burial at Acotes Hill Cemetery, 1049 Putnam Pike, Chepachet, RI 02814. While Rosa's physical presence may be gone, her spirit of love, strength, and kindness will forever illuminate the lives of those she touched.
