Robert Rainone

Rainone, Robert E.,78, died August 12, 2014 at Goldencrest Nursing Centre. He was the husband of Diana P. (Bruno) Rainone. Born in Johnston, he was a son of the late Anthony Rainone (Fmr. Police Chief, Johnston) and Clarice (Smith) Rainone.

Robert was a superintendent for the RI Department of Transportation for 33 years before retiring. He was a former member and employee of the Melody Hills Golf Course. He coached girls softball and boys hockey in North Providence. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving with the mounted police in Germany.

Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Robin A. Jeter and Susan C. Rainone, both of North Providence, two granddaughters, Ariella and Sophia Jeter, two sisters, Lillian Hawkins of Johnston and Beverly DiFruscio of Orlando, and a brother, Ronald Rainone of Scituate. He was brother of the late Angelina "Pinky" Giorgio, Carlo, and Anthony Rainone.

His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours Friday 4-8 pm.
