Cranshaw, Robert "Bob" A., 74, of Harmony, died July 6, 2013 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Care in Providence. He was the loving husband of Janice M. (Berube) Cranshaw for 48 years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Raymond A. and Alyce I. (Bromfield) Cranshaw.
A graduate of North Providence High School and CCRI, Bob was also a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany. "Red" was a volunteer firefighter for the North Providence (Centerdale) Fire Department for 25 years. He retired in 1996 from the US Postal Service (Valley Falls/Cumberland branch).
Besides his wife, Bob leaves a daughter, Cheryl M. McCarthy and her husband, Kenneth of Mansfield, MA; a son, Robert M. Cranshaw of Pascoag; a sister, Laurel Keene of Smithfield; and a brother, Donald Cranshaw of Davie, FL. He was a brother of the late Kenneth Cranshaw. He also leaves three grandchildren, Stephanie, Katie, and Jennie McCarthy of Mansfield, MA and many nieces and nephews.
Bob loved sitting on his front porch, vacationing in Disney World and Atlantic City, animals (especially cats), the Boston Red Sox, and the Miami Dolphins. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Harmony Fire Department or the Adele DeCof Cancer Center at Roger Williams Medical Center.
Calling hours are Tuesday 5-8 PM. Funeral services are Wednesday at 10 AM at the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence.
