Bruno, Robert C., 65, of Arnold Ave, died Sunday, May 25, 2008 at his home surrounded by his close loving family. He was the beloved husband of Nancy J. (Goodger) Bruno for 41 years. A lifetime resident of Smithfield, he was the son of the late Chester and Carmella (D'Orazio) Bruno.
After graduating from North Providence High School, Robert enlisted in the US Coast Guard serving from 1960 to 1964. He attained the rank of radioman second class on board the USCGC Humboldt. He was awarded the good conduct medal for meritorious service.
Robert was a laborer for Local 271 for over 30 years retiring in 1997. Following retirement he worked for American Lawnmower Service doing what he loved. He was an avid golfer and was a member of the Valley Country Club of Warwick for many years. An avid gardener and landscaper he spent many enjoyable hours maintaining his "Ponderosa". He was loved by his family and many friends as well as his two "fur balls", Brutus and Caesar, his cats.
Besides his wife, Mr. Bruno leaves three children, Eric Bruno and his wife Regina of Marlboro, MA, Brenda Pilozzi and her husband Joe of No. Attleboro, and John Bruno of Smithfield, and two grandchildren Mathew and Alex Pilozzi. He also leaves a sister Judy Newcum and her husband Paul of No. Attleboro and two nieces, Beth and Amy.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9am from the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Michael Church, Georgiaville. Burial with military honors will be in Highland Memorial Park. Visiting hours will be Thursday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman St., Providence, RI 02906 or the American Cancer Society, 931 Jefferson Blvd, Warwick, RI 02886.
