Breckel, Robert B. Jr., was born on April 2, 1951 in Providence, RI to the late Robert B. Breckel Sr. and Mary (Catterson) Breckel. He died surrounded by his family after a four month battle with cancer on October 2, 2017.
Robert worked for the Water Department in Oakland Park, Ft. Lauderdale, FL for many years and also worked for the Local 57 Operating Engineers in Providence. He retired six years ago, living in Indian Harbour Beach, FL until his death. Bob left a lasting impression on others with his quiet manner, twinkly blue eyes, quick wit, and his dedication to restoring and riding on his Harley Davidson Soft Tail.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gale (Delfino) Breckel, his two sisters, Maryann Correia and her husband Dr. Thomas Correia and Elizabeth “Betty” DeStout and her husband, Ret. Col. James DeStout, USAF, his brother, Thomas Breckel and his wife Denise, and many cherished nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11 am in St. Philip Church, Putnam Pike, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to Hospice of Health First, 1350 S. Hickory St., Melbourne, FL 32901 or www.hf.org/ways_to_help/donate.cfm, designating Cape Canaveral Hospital.
