Rita Couture

Couture, Rita B. (Belhumeur), 87, died May 3, 2011 at Hallworth House. She was the wife of the late Louis J. Couture. A lifelong Smithfield resident, she was the daughter of the late Adelard J. and Blanche E. (Bellemore) Belhumeur.

Rita worked in the bridal departments of Gladding's and Shepard's Department Stores before retiring. She was a member of NBQA and the Smithfield Quilters. Rita was a graduate of St. Xavier Academy.

She leaves six children, Ronald Couture, Alan Couture, Kathleen Connolly, Linda LaPlume, Steven Couture, and Christine Chamberland, and ten grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Irving Belhumeur.

Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 am from the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Michael Church, Georgiaville. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael Church, Fruit Hill Day Services for Elderly, or Beacon Hospice.
