Slade, Richard P., 69, of Warwick, died Saturday June 4, 2016 at the Greenwood Health Center. He was the husband of Susan C. (Mitchell) Slade. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Walter and Mercia (Fee) Slade.
Richard served with the Army National Guard for many years, retiring as Major. He was a supervisor at the former Mine Safety Appliances in Esmond for 26 years, until its closing. He also worked at Triggs Memorial Golf Course. Richard was a member of the Kelley Gazzerro Post 2812 VFW.
Besides his wife, he is survived by four children, Sheri Slade White and her husband Peter of East Greenwich, Paul B. Slade and his wife Michele of Cranston, Elizabeth R. Slade and Heather L. Slade, both of Warwick, three grandchildren, Abby and Ava White and Ellie Slade. He was the brother of the late Douglas P. Slade.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday 5-8PM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave. North Providence. Burial with military honors will be Friday, 11:30AM at the Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends may meet at the Administration building at 11:15 AM. Kindly omit flowers.
