Raymond Torregrossa, aged 69, passed away unexpectedly on November 17th. He was the devoted husband of Colleen Torregrossa(Hopper), married 34 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Raymond and Irene Torregrossa (Tulli).
Ray was a lifelong resident of North Providence. Over the years, he proudly served his community as a detective of the North Providence Police Department, former president of the North Providence Police FOP Lodge 13, president of the Lymansville Crime Prevention Association, captain of the North Providence Volunteer Fire Department, and president of the Fruit Hill Volunteer Fireman’s Association. Thereafter, he was employed as a salesman for twenty-six years at Reynolds American, retiring in August 2020. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed going to lunch with his friends, visiting D.Palmieri’s, and going out to dinner with his family. He also enjoyed traveling, yard work, watching Fox news and spoiling his grandchildren. Everyone who knew Ray loved him and his ability to bring joy and laughter to every room. Known by his close family as the jack of all trades and jokingly the master of none.
Aside from his wife Colleen, he is survived by his children; Jody Graziano of Johnston and her husband, Keith; John Cockcroft of South Carolina and his wife, Ann; David Cockcroft of North Providence and his wife, Kerri; and Michael Cockcroft of Bristol and his wife, Heather; his eight grandchildren; Alixandria Cockcroft, Rachel Zdenek and her husband, Ryan, Kelly Graziano, Brayden Cockcroft, Claire Cockcroft, Clayton Cockcroft, Dean Cockcroft and Blake Cockcroft. Predeceased by his loving parents as well as his brother Peter Torregrossa and many aunts and, uncles. Ray is, also, survived by his brother, Daniel Torregrossa and his wife, Kathleen and his sister, Irene Torregrossa. Ray will be missed by his uncle Donald Tulli and his many cousins who loved him with all their heart.
His funeral with visitation will be held Saturday, November 25, 2023 at 8:30 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, to be followed by a Funeral Service at 10:00am.
Burial will follow at St. Ann Cemetery, 73 Church Street, Cranston.
Calling hours will be held Friday, November 24th, from 5:00-8:00pm in the Funeral Home.
