Rachel E. Marro (Fargnoli), 91, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2016, in her home at Brook Village in North Providence. She was the wife of the late Albert Marro and the mother of the late Jeffrey Marro. Born in the Federal Hill section of Providence, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Louise (Golotto) Fargnoli. She was the sister of the late Agostino Fargnoli, Michael Fargnoli and Mary (Fargnoli) Morra.
At various times, she worked as a jewelry assembler and as a restaurant cook and server. Mostly, she was a homemaker for her family.
Rachel's interests included cooking, dancing, singing, bowling, playing cards and visiting the casino. She enjoyed the company of her friends at Brook Village and going on various trips with them. She had served as a vice president of the tenants association and helped organize many trips. She also organized and led a singing group, The Silvertones, at Brook Village that performed for various local organizations. The group also went to Boston to perform for the regional directors of her apartment building.
Rachel was very kind hearted and put the welfare of her family and friends first. She was the matriarch of the family, had a strong character, a determined nature and was independent, right up to the end, just as she wanted.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews and by her friends at Brook Village. She will be missed by many.
Visitation and funeral will be held Monday from 9:30-10:30 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
