Blackmore, Paula M. “Auntie”, 69, of Smithfield, passed away on November 14, 2020 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Paul A. Blackmore MD and Elodie M. (Emin) Blackmore.
Paula worked as a computer specialist for Wheaton College, Acme-Chaston, and National Patent Medical for many years before retiring. Active in the community, she was a dedicated, lifelong member serving in many roles at St. Michael Church, Georgiaville. As well as 40 years sitting on the board of directors of the East Smithfield Public Library. Paula lived a life of adventure, first joining the Civil Air Patrol, Auxiliary USAF at age 14, obtaining a glider pilot’s license at 16, and a powered private pilot’s license at 18, She was an avid traveler who enjoyed skiing and exploring abroad alongside friends and family. After retiring, she thrived in her favorite role as Auntie to her four nieces and nephews. Generous, loving, kind, and dependable she was always available when they needed her and encouraged them to strive for their best.
Paula is survived by two sisters, Lynette D. Hawley and her husband Harold of Barker, NY and Christina M. Styron of Smithfield; and four nieces and nephews, Denise F. Hawley, David M. Hawley, Katryna A. Styron, and Vincent M. Styron.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 8 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Private burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours Wednesday 5-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Smithfield Public Library, 50 Esmond St., Smithfield, RI 02917.
Masks will be required and social distancing guidelines will be followed at both the funeral home and the church.
