Pedder, Patrick T., of Glocester, died September 12, 2017 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the husband of Alyce M. (Balme) Pedder and was the son of the late Norman Pedder and the late Ruth (Pepler) Merrill.
He worked at Cavanagh Company for 35 years. He was a member of the Chepachet Union Church. He was the coach of the Ponaganset High School girls soccer team for 21 years, where he won 2 state championships, including one undefeated season. He was inducted into both the Rhode Island Girls Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame and the Ponaganset Athletic Hall of Fame. He is a past president of the Rhode Island Girls Soccer Association.
An avid outdoorsman, Pat enjoyed skiing, biking, hiking, kayaking, hunting, and fishing. He was also a member of the Smithfield Sportsman Club. Pat loved going to family functions and his family loved spending time with him to discuss local and world events. He and Alyce hosted a 4th of July party for family and friends for 30 years. Pat was always the first to lend a helping hand. He had a strong work ethic and lived a life of honor. What he treasured most though was spending time with Alyce, whether it was working in their garden or traveling on one of their many trips around the world during their retirement years.
Besides his wife, Patrick is survived by two sisters, Nancy Swiech and Maria Jalette, his brother-in-law, Robert Balme, and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother-in-law of the late Rodney Balme.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 9 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a funeral service at 10 AM in Chepachet Union Church, 1138 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial will follow in Acotes Hill Cemetery. Calling hours Friday 5-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chepachet Union Church, PO Box E, Chepachet, RI 02814.
