Patricia Diane Rajotte, age 59, died on January 15, 2018. She was born on April 7, 1958 in Long Beach, CA. The daughter of the late Martin Gieser and Betty Lou (Mann) Gieser, she is survived by her beloved children James Rajotte and Sarah Rajotte, as well as her siblings Barbara Laplume, Nancy Desrosiers, Janet Washington, Mary Hobba and Richard Gieser. She was preceded in death by her brother Tom Gieser.
Patricia will be remembered as a loving, heroic mother and fiercely-determined fighter during her nine-year battle with breast cancer. She was lovingly cared for at her and her son’s homes by her family and friends until her passing.
As an employee at the Rhode Island Department of Health, she was a diligent worker and one of Governor Raimondo’s Innovation League Champions. Her public health portfolio included child passenger safety (i.e., SAFEKIDS RI), arthritis management, tobacco control, and health facilities regulation. Patricia also dedicated her spare time to the LIVESTRONG AT THE Y cancer survivorship program at the Eastside Y. She always appreciated and enjoyed the fond memories and friends from working with the Girl Scouts of Rhode Island at Camp Promising Acres and the Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) program.
Her visitation will be held Friday, January 26, 2018 from 3:30 to 5:30 PM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, RI, followed by a funeral home service at 5:30 PM.
A mass in her memory will be held Saturday, January 27 at 10 AM in St. Leo’s Church of St. John Paul II Parish, 697 Central Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02861.
Contributions in her name may be made to St. John Paul II Parish or the Patricia Rajotte Sunshine Fund. Email for further instructions. The sunshine fund will pass along Patricia’s charisma, positivity, and radiance to others by sending flowers and cheer to fellow State employees who are out of work due to medical necessity.
