Paiva, Norman J. Sr., 83, died July 15, 2017 at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Gilda J. (Faella) Paiva for 63 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Manuel and Mary (Enos) Paiva.
A retired diesel mechanic, Norman worked for the Local 251 for over 30 years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict and a member of the Korean War Veterans, Chapter 3. Norman loved gardening, helping people, attending family gatherings, and traveling. He also enjoyed camping, especially at the Ginny-B Campground.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Cynthia Lee, Norman Paiva Jr., and Mark Paiva, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and his dog, Zoe. He was the father of the late Joanne Paiva and brother of the late Irene Obiurka and Florence Paiva.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St., North Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery. Calling hours Monday 5-8 pm.
