DiPippo, Nicholas, 81, of Cross St., died May 8, 2012 in the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late Eva E. (Messore) DiPippo. Born in Providence he was the son of the late Carmino and Ida (DeCorpe) DiPippo.
Nicholas was a letter carrier for the US Postal Service out of Centredale for 12 years retiring in 1975. He previously was a police officer in the City of Providence and a correctional officer at the ACI. He was an Army veteran of Korea and a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. An active communicant of Mary, Mother of Mankind Church he served as an usher, lector, and a Eucharistic Minister. He annoyed many, was loved by all, and will be deeply missed.
He leaves his daughter, Lori A. Swanson and her husband Thomas of Warwick, a son-in-law Allen Butterworth of Scituate, and two first cousins, Sara Rea and her husband Domenic and Arlene Gazerro and her husband John. He was father of the late Deborah A. Butterworth.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 8 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church. Entombment with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Friday 2-4, 6-8 PM.
