Michael Mainelli

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing into eternal life of Michael Raymond Mainelli. Michael passed peacefully on April 4, 2023, age 84.

He was born on August 31, 1938 in Providence, RI, to the late Albert Mainelli and Mary Mainelli.

A Graduate of Classical High School, Michael spent formative years in military service in the Army from 1958 to 1962. He attended Brown University, then graduated from The University of Rhode Island (class of 1965), where he was a proud member of Theta Chi.

After receiving his MBA from The Columbia Business School, Michael worked as an Engineer at Bethlehem Steel, and was then employed by Arthur Andersen Accounting. In New York City, he rose to be a ranking Co-Commissioner of Employment, serving five Mayors.

His passions for Engineering, Sailing, Carpentry, and Competitive Shooting were well known, as was his warmth, his support of the Special Olympics, and his love of Matunuck, Rhode Island.

Michael is survived by his wife, Jill Mainelli, his two sons Benjamin Mainelli and Jono Mainelli, his brothers Leo Mainelli and Albert Mainelli, and his sister Nancy Triantafellow.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 4-7 pm in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.  His memorial mass will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 11 am in St. James Chapel, 2079 Matunuck Schoolhouse Rd., Charlestown.
