Marion Tobin

Tobin, Marion E. (Alarie), 87, died August 3, 2008 at Kent County Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Edward T. Tobin. Born in and a lifelong resident of Providence, she was a daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Pelletier) Alarie.

Marion worked at the Providence Journal for fifteen years, retiring in 1983. She was a former member of the choir at St. Mary Church, Providence.

Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Edward J. Tobin of Providence, Robert J. Tobin of North Scituate, and Peter J. Tobin of Oceanside, CA, and three grandchildren, Sean, Kelly, and Stephanie. She was mother of the late Michael T. Tobin and sister of the late Evelyn Jobin, Grace O'Rourke, Ruth Neary, Anna Mae Stone, and Merrill Alarie.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 8:45 am from the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Mary Church, Broadway, Providence. Burial will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours Wednesday 5-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to RI Meals on Wheels, 70 Bath St., Providence, RI 02908.
