Marie Gavigan

Gavigan, Marie J. (Degnan), 93, formerly of North Providence, died April 11, 2014. She was the wife of the late Joseph F. Gavigan. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. and Elizabeth J. (Connors) Degnan.

Marie worked at numerous department stores and Almacs before retiring.

She is survived by two daughters, Jane M. Kelly and Jo-Ann F. Egan and her husband John R. Egan, her beloved sister-in-law, Margaret “Peg” Degnan, eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Joseph F. Gavigan, Jr. and sister of the late William, Robert, Joseph, and Lawrence Degnan, Margaret Dolloff, and Rita Boxold.

Visitation will be held Tuesday 9:30-10:30 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, 25 Fourth St. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery.
