Marguerite Giroux

Giroux, Marguerite C. (McWeeney), 93, a resident of Smithfield for many years before moving to North Kingstown , died Saturday, March 25, 2017 at home. She was the wife of the late William N. Giroux. She was the daughter of the late Raymond F. McWeeney, Sr. and the late Ella (Brotherton) McWeeney.

Marguerite was a matron for the Smithfield School Department before retiring. She always had a smile for everyone, and loved to be surrounded by her loved ones. She enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, and casinos.

She leaves two daughters, Shirley and Marguerite “Peggy” Giroux, both of North Kingstown, and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late William R. Giroux, and sister of the late Raymond, James, and Donald McWeeney.

Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are Wednesday, 4-6 PM.
