Margaret Williams

Williams, Margaret F. (Healis), 99, went home to be with the Lord on July 16, 2017. She was the oldest member of the Chappaquiddick Tribe of the Wampanoag Indian Nation. She was born July 28, 1917 in Providence, Rhode Island and lived in North Providence most of her life. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Healis and Castelene (Holden) Healis. She was the wife of the late Raymond T. Williams for 42 years and the mother of the late Margaret (Peggy) G. Williams.

Margaret was a full time homemaker, providing a beautiful, nurturing environment for her children whom she leaves to cherish her memory. She leaves Meredith McGoings and husband Michael, Leota Varan, Aleatha Dickerson and husband Keith, Raymond (Trusty) Williams Jr. and Rosalyn Williams Washington and husband Lenny. Margaret, also known as Big Nana, leaves 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great- grandchild. She is predeceased by her brothers Ulysses, Herbert, Harold, Walter and sisters Bessie, Edna, Mabel, Eleanor and Grace.

Margaret attended Allendale Baptist Church in North Providence for over 50 years where she served as Vice President of the Tawanka Circle Women's Club of the Church where she was still a faithful and active member.

Margaret created beautiful ceramic pieces, crocheted baby sets and lovely quilts. She also baked the best desserts for most of her family's meals in her younger days.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 20 from 4-7pm and Funeral Service will be held Friday, July 21 at 11:00 in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.

Burial will follow in North End Burial Ground, 5 Branch Avenue, Providence, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Allendale Baptist Church, 545 Woonasquatucket Avenue, North Providence, Rhode Island 02911.
