Margaret E. Pearson (Thorpe), 100, formerly of Johnston, died on March 4, 2023 at St. Antoine’s Residence.  She was the wife of the late Walter E. Pearson, daughter of the late William Reginald and Elsie (Coates) Thorpe, and sister of the late William Thorpe.

Margaret was formerly a member of the Eastern Star, Betsy Williams Chapter 20 and treasurer of the China Burma India Group.  She was also a co-founder of the first library at the Graniteville Elementary School.

She is survived by four children, Stuart D. Pearson, Retired Fire Chief, of Mapleville, Elaine T. Pearson of Johnston, Diane M. Carlton of North Scituate, and Nancy J. Brown of Smithfield, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4-7 pm and on Wednesday from 10-11 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence.  Funeral service and burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital of Boston at https://www.shrinerschildrens.org/en/locations/boston
