Lawrence Martino

Martino, Lawrence, 90, of Johnston, died Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the husband of Yolanda M. (Preite) Martino. Born in North Providence, he was a son of the late Arcangelo and Antonetta (Cucca) Martino.

Lawrence was a truck driver for Warren Oil Company for 35 years before retiring. He was a volunteer firefighter for the Marieville Fire Department. He had also served with the U. S. Navy Seabees during WWII and was a Reserve Policeman on the North Providence Police Department for many years.

Besides his wife he leaves a son, Lawrence A. Martino and his wife Louise of Austin, TX, a daughter Sandra L. Bibby and her husband Lou Longo of Foster, a brother John F. Martino of Johnston, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Hilda Carnevale and Ralph Martino.

The funeral and visitation will be held Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 8:15 AM to 9:15 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the St. Robert Food Shelf.
