Dragon, Kathleen M. “Kathy” (Lytle), entered into eternal rest on March 29th, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center after a battle with cancer.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Dorothy M. (Brennon) Lytle. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1961 and is best remembered by her classmates for her dimples. After attending college in California, Kathleen returned to Rhode Island where she married and raised a family.
A lifelong resident of Smithfield, Kathy was well known in the community. She was one of the first female soccer and softball coaches in town, a Cub Scout leader and a bus driver. A sports enthusiast, she passionately cheered for the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox as well as the many teams of the Smithfield High School.
After working for several years at Ocean State Power, Kathleen continued with her schooling to become a CNA. She cared for many, both at work and in her personal life, often opening her home to friends and family in need. When she found free time, she filled it with biking, gardening and trips to the beach. Kathy also enjoyed traveling; taking many vacations to Ireland, Mexico and Block Island.
In addition to her late parents, she is welcomed home by her son, David A. Dragon and her brothers James and Mark Lytle. She is survived by her son, Paul J. Dragon, her grandchildren Dana A. Dragon, Crystal L. Dragon, Kayla M. Dragon; her siblings, Dorothy Coogan, William Lytle, Marilyn Archibald, Rosemary Knight, Terrance Lytle, Virginia Lytle and countless friends.
