Karon Dionne

Dionne, Karon R. (Downes), 75, of Johnston, died Sunday, April 12, 2015 at the Home and Hospice Center in Providence. She was the wife of the late William J. Dionne. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Lester and Vera (Fanning) Downes.

Karon was a Director of Outreach Services at Rhode Island College before retiring. Previously she had been a school teacher for the Providence school system. She was a graduate of Salve Regina University and received her master's degree from Rhode Island College. She was an avid sailor and loved to travel.

She leaves her children, Mark J. Dionne of Providence, Dawn M. Pezzuco of Johnston, Kyle J. Dionne of North Providence, five grandchildren, Natalia, Julia, Audrey, Christian, and Alex. She also leaves two sisters, Shirley and Joan Smith, both of Newburgh, NY.

Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours Tuesday 4-8 PM.
