Joseph Sousa

Sousa, Joseph J., 91, of South Kingstown, formerly of Smithfield, died August 30, 2012. He was the husband of Roxie M. (Counts) Sousa. Born in Georgiaville, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Martins) Sousa.

Joseph was an electrical inspector for RI Department of Transportation, retiring in 2002. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He was an avid Boston Bruins fan and loved to feed the wild ducks.

Besides his wife, Joseph leaves three children, Theresa D'Orsi of South Kingstown, Mary Anzevino and Michael Sousa, both of Warwick, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and a sister, Inez "Toni" Sacchetti of Lincoln. He was the father of the late Joseph D. Sousa and brother of the late Abigail Pavao and Naiomi "Yankee" Ramieri.

Visitation will be held Saturday from 8:30-9:30 am in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Georgiaville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smile Train, PO Box 96231, Washington D.C. 20090.
