Franco, Joseph, 93, died Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the husband of the late I. Edith (Feuti) Franco. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Antonio and Concetta (Pesca) Franco.
Joseph was a Merchant Marine Veteran, serving in WWII. After the war, he sailed aboard large vessels hauling freight and fuel to and from the Gulf Coast. Later, he received a degree from the RI School of Design. Joseph was a hand engraver, owning his own business, the former Westminster Engraving Co. of Providence. He was also a small aircraft owner and pilot. An avid golfer all his life, Joseph took delight in his retirement years spending winter months in Fort Myers, FL. He enjoyed playing piano and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by three children, Paulette Pike, Michael and Joseph Franco, six grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was the brother of the late Perry, Alfred and Rudolph Franco, and Anna Cecesino.
