Andrade, Joseph, Sr., 88, of Sunset Ave, died November 28, 2012 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the husband of the late Emma (Caparco) Andrade. Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Joao and Maria (de Jesus) Andrade. He had been a resident of Pawtucket before moving to North Providence.
Joseph had worked for Corning Glass Company of Pawtucket for over 40 years, retiring as foreman in 1986. Previously he served as a police officer in Pawtucket. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II. In his youth he was an athlete, playing baseball and basketball. He had wintered in Lake Worth, Florida.
He leaves his son, Joseph Andrade, Jr. and his wife Elaine, two grandchildren, Jay Andrade and his wife Jennifer, and Amy Andrade, and a brother Samuel Andrade.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 30, 2012 from 9:30 to 11 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence, followed by a service at 11AM. Burial, with military honors will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
