Walsh, John L., 91, of Glocester, died Sunday March 6, 2011 at Matulaitis Nursing Home in Putnam, CT. He was the husband of Lillian A. (Kelly) Walsh and the late Rita (Scott) Walsh. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he was a son of the late John and Martha (Schweitzer) Walsh.
Mr. Walsh was a New York City Police Detective. Following his retirement, he worked for Allstate as a personal injury adjuster. He was an Army WWII veteran.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Jeannine Milos and John Walsh, both of South Hadley, MA, step-children, Joanne Ringer of Vergennes, VT and Janice Dutch of Thompson, CT, twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. He was step-father of the late James Paradise and brother of the late Thomas Walsh.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 9 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Mary, Mother of Mankind Church, North Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow in RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Calling hours Wednesday 6-9 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Matulaitis Nursing Home, 10 Thurber Rd., Putnam, CT 06260.
