John Dempsey

John "Jack" Dempsey, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on January 20, 2025, at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. Born in Providence on May 31, 1943, he led a life filled with dedication, love and loyalty.

Jack was a proud graduate of The Assumption School, LaSalle Academy, and Providence College. He embarked on a successful career in sales, where his charisma and work ethic shone brightly until his retirement. His engaging personality and understanding nature allowed him to forge lasting connections with colleagues and clients alike.

Jack is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Mary Ann (Sylvia). Together, they built a loving family, which includes their son John and his wife Tracey, who blessed Jack with two grandchildren, Jordon and Kiara. He also leaves behind his daughter, Christine Constant and her husband Tad. They were all sources of immense pride and joy in his life.

He is predeceased by his parents, John and Eva (Savoie) Dempsey, and his sister, Sr. Lillian Dempsey C.P.—each of whom he held dear in his heart throughout his life. 

Jack's legacy is defined by his unconditional love for his family . He will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know him. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to  the Rhode Island Blood Center and/or HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care.

A Memorial Mass will be held for Jack on Monday, January 27, 2025 at 11 am in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Ave., Providence.
