John Amitrano

Amitrano, John J, 85, of North Smithfield, died April 12, 2011 at his home. He was married for 58 years to the love of is life, the late Dorothy A. (Wood) Amitrano. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Luigi and Maria (D'Ambra) Amitrano.

Mr. Amitrano was a firefighter for the City of Providence for over 30 years. Following his firefighting career, he was a vault attendant for the former Fleet Bank for over 20 years. He also served in the US Army during WWII. He was a true gentleman who dearly loved his family and friends.

He leaves two daughters, Andrea Amitrano of Coventry, Lisa Topp of North Smithfield, and two grandchildren, Megan and Jacob Topp. He also leaves his siblings, Concetta and Madelina Amitrano, Liberine Keedy, Josephine DeVoll, and his devoted dog, Zoey. He was brother of the late Teresa, Frank, Nicholas, Vito, and Angelina Amitrano, Susan Greh, and Mary Steinbrink.

John's funeral service will be held Saturday at 11 AM in the ROBBINS FUNERAL HOME, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday 5-8 PM.
