Jo An Ferguson

Jo an L. (Cirame) Ferguson, 84 of Smithfield, passed May 29, 2019 at Heritage Hills Nursing Center.  Born in Boston, MA, she was the daughter of the late John and Marie (Chamberlin) Cirame.

She was the former wife of the late Richard E. Ferguson.  She is survived by her children Jean and Joseph Bonafiglia, Richard Ferguson and Linda Reilly, Janet and Lawrence Erickson, and Robert Ferguson, grandchildren Amanda, Melissa, Carolyn, Kaitlin, Anthony, and Zachary, great-grandchildren Jeniyah, Alexa and Mason. She was the sister of John J. Cirame, Elinor McIntyre, Bernice Dolber, Regina Papkee, Elaine Zunino, Stephen J. Cirame, Charles Cirame and the late Robert Cirame.  She also leaves several nieces, nephews and friends.

Jo an was a graduate of Salem State.  She had lived and worked in Rhode Island for most of her life, both as a Mathematics Teacher for the Providence School Department and as a waitress.  She later spent several of her retirement years on Cape Cod.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, traveling, and attending parties, gatherings or events, as she was a member of several clubs and organizations.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 7th at 10 AM from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. Michael's Church, Smithfield.  Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.  Calling hours Thursday 4-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael's Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917 or St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara St., South Yarmouth, MA 02664.
