Jeffrey (Jeff) W. Thomas July 12,1947 – August 29, 2023
Jeffrey (Jeff) W. Thomas, 76, of Clinton, Maine, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He was the devoted husband of the late Joann (Fleming) Thomas for 31 years.
Jeff was born in Providence, RI, son of the late Edwin (Ted) and Harriet (Snell) Thomas. He lived in Johnston, RI before moving to Maine in 1974.
After graduating high School, he served our country in the United States Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. After serving in the army, he graduated from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI., making the Dean’s List every semester, earning his bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Jeff was employed at the Central Maine Power Company for over 30 years before retiring several years ago.
Enjoying his retirement, when every day was a Saturday. Especially on the cold, snowy Monday mornings.
A lifelong, passionate fan of all New England sports teams. A gifted, natural talented cook, in the kitchen or on the grill, creating his classic favorites, which were all delicious. He enjoyed watching the many species of birds that flocked to his feeders. Always a music lover, especially listening to his favorite, the blues.
Above all, Jeff truly loved spending time with cherished family and friends. Always ready and counting the weeks until his annual trek to the west and east coasts of Florida. Sitting at the beach, soaking up the warm sun, with toes in the sand and drink in his hand. The best remedy to cure the winter blues. A regular attendee to his favorite Blue’s Festivals held in Florida and Maine. After his return in late Spring, ready for his weekly stay in July at the Samoset resort, on the coast of Rockland Maine. Sitting by the pool, sharing some great laughs and maybe a cocktail or two, with family and friends. And of course, basking in the sun.
Jeff was a lifelong member of the Winslow VFW Post 8835. Enjoying the many events that were held throughout the years. Watching the game, playing pool, horseshoes, trivia night or socializing with all the folks he met there.
Leaving such a void, his presence in our lives will always be missed.
He is also survived by his daughter, Rhonda Thomas, grandchildren, Kyler and Bailee. Sister, Jane (Thomas) Malachowski and her husband Paul of Coventry, RI, niece, Allison Malachowski, nephews, Jordan (Carolyn) Malachowski and Jack Malachowski. Cherished friends, Jean and Debbie Vashon, many treasured cousins and all the friends he met along the way.
Burial with military honors will take place at RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI on Saturday, October 28th at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are asked to gather at the administration building at 10:45 am to proceed to the chapel for 11.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity close to your heart.
