Octeau, James N., 54, of Smithfield, died November 8, 2011 at home. He was the husband of Patricia A. (Proulx) Octeau. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Douglas and Janet (Vezina) Octeau.
James was a low-bed operator, moving heavy equipment for Northeast Transportation. A man with a great sense of humor and positive outlook on life, James loved his family, riding his Harley Davidson, traveling, and the outdoors. He was the assistant coach for Smithfield Girls Softball for many years for his daughters.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Brittani P. and Rachel L.Octeau, both of Smithfield, two brothers, Jeffrey Octeau of Smithfield and Kevin Octeau of Glocester, a sister, Karen Smith of Smithfield, ten nieces, three nephews, and two great-nieces.
His funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 am from the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral Spring Ave., North Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in St. Michael Church, Georgiaville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Park. Calling hours Sunday 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to VNA of Care New England Hospice, 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886 or St. Michael Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, RI 02917.
