Holton, Jack D., 78, of Smithfield, died Saturday, March 7, 2015 at his home. He was the husband of the late Florence S. (Carreiro) Holton. Born in Syracuse, NY, he was a son of the late Raymond D. Holton and Ruth V. (MacCumber) Holton Thompson.
Jack had worked for Continental Bronze Co., Industrial Tool and Machine, and retired from Getchells and Son of Smithfield. A Marine Corps veteran of Korea, he was a member, past commander, and past adjutant of American Legion Post 64 in Smithfield. He was also on the Board of Directors of the Smithfield Neighborhood Center, a member of the NRA, a former member of the Smithfield Sportsman's Club, and a certified firearms instructor for the RIDEM. He volunteered at the RI Blood Center.
He leaves two daughters, Cindy Lou Stanley of Smithfield, Karen Lanctot of Warwick, two grandchildren, Michael Stanley Jr., and Christopher Stanley, siblings, Gary Thompson, Kristina Henry, L. Jane Schill, and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Douglas Holton.
Jack's funeral service with military honors will be held Friday at 11 AM in the Robbins Funeral Home, 2251 Mineral spring Ave, North Providence. Calling hours are Thursday 4-7 PM. Burial will be in Amber Cemetery, Otisco, NY in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 370 7th Ave., Suite 1802, New York City, NY 10001.
