Helena Edith (Edie) Heller, of Lincoln, born November 15, 1935 passed away on her 85th birthday, November 15, 2020, after a life well lived. Born in Greenwich Village, New York City, she was the daughter of the late John H. and Helena (Golen) Heller. She was lovingly dedicated to her family. She is survived by her sister Joan Rollins, and her nieces Diane O’Toole (Robert) and Valerie Manning (David) and her nephew Michael Rollins. She was also the loving great-aunt of Lauren Smith (Cameron), John Jeffery, Danielle Jeffery, Josephine Manning, Nicole Manning and Alexander Manning. Helena graduated from Scarsdale High School, Grove City College, completed course work for an MBA at New York University, and received a paralegal certificate from Mercy College. Helena had a varied career, but her favorite job was running the John H. Heller Wines and Liquor store with her father in Hartsdale, NY. After the store was sold, she was employed by the National Bank of Westchester using her paralegal skills. After moving to Rhode Island Helena worked part-time at Sears in the Emerald Square mall. Helena was a friendly person and loved talking with her coworkers and customers. She always gave sound advice and had a good understanding of people.
Helena enjoyed all things Disney, travel, driving, reading, watching television, particularly Hallmark movies, and sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. But what Helena enjoyed most out of her life was her family. Warm, sweet, selfless, humble, intelligent and funny, Helena cherished family. She herself never married nor had children, but she doted on her nieces and nephew and her great-nieces and nephews. She encouraged them to pursue their dreams and was always supportive. She was a wonderful woman who made others’ lives brighter. She is greatly loved and will be sorely missed. She was truly special.
The funeral services at the Swan Point Chapel and burial were private. Contributions in her name may be sent to Hope Hulitar Hospice, 1085 Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
