MacWhorter, Gloria J., (Frost) R.N.,87, our family lost our beloved wife and mother October 4, 2016 at Hopkins Manor. Surviving three years after being evaluated as eligible for hospice, surviving this long only with the wonderful medical care, love and affection of the entire Hopkins family. We thank in particular Nurse Debbie Bernard and CNA extraordinaire, Emma Bannerman.
Hopkins Manor was a home away from home for Gloria and her family. Gloria was the precious and beloved wife of Paul S. MacWhorter. Born in Cambridge, MA on February 19, 1929, she was the daughter of Pauline (Hamilton) and Jeffrey D'Angelo, sister of the late Horace Frost of Wakefield, MA and Pauline Mary and husband Bruno Fabbri of Chelmsford, MA. She was the mother of the late Paul S. MacWhorter, Jr., and sons Keith MacWhorter of Rehoboth, MA , Brian MacWhorter and his wife Terry of Cumberland, and a daughter Brenda Taylor of Lower Argyle, Nova Scotia . Other loving members of her family are her cherished grandchildren, Kerri Leigh Defond and her husband Jared of Rehoboth, MA, Cory MacWhorter of Providence, twins Ian and Evan MacWhorter of Cumberland, Allison Whritenour of Vancover, B.C., and Lilah Taylor of Lower Argyle, Nova Scotia.
Gloria's first love was to be a wife and mother, and what a remarkable job she did with every waking hour devoted to her husband and children of whom they both were so very proud, and were rewarded with the same love and affection from them. Upon completion of the twenty years of raising her children to adulthood and so satisfied and proud of the result, she turned her attention to the next phase of her life, a career she always wanted in nursing. She went back to school at CCRI, earned her degree as an R.N. and received a position of school nurse at R.I. College. She worked with the respected Dr. Scanlon.
We her family console ourselves knowing our lord would reward her Christian life of love and of family and others, in her nursing career and will be waiting for her with open arms.
Farewell my first and only love.
Until we meet again.
